Police and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) intercepted 31 undocumented exotic birds valued at over ₱1.38 million during a checkpoint in Toril District, Davao City. The birds were discovered in a vehicle as part of a routine inspection.

The operation took place on a weekday in the Toril District, where officials conducted a traffic stop. During the search, they found the birds hidden in the vehicle’s cargo area. The birds, which are not native to the region, were reportedly being transported for illegal trade.

This incident follows a series of similar seizures in the region, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat wildlife trafficking. Authorities have increased patrols in areas known for illegal wildlife trade. The confiscated birds are now under the care of the DENR for further investigation and potential rehabilitation.
