President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. Opened a new section of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) on Thursday, connecting Valenzuela to Quezon City. The segment, part of the NLEX Northlink project, will operate without toll charges until the end of 2026.

The new road aims to ease traffic congestion between Quezon City and nearby areas. Marcos attended the official opening ceremony in the capital city, highlighting the infrastructure development as part of his administration’s efforts to improve transportation. The toll-free policy is intended to encourage more vehicles to use the expressway, reducing pressure on existing roads.

This expansion follows recent upgrades to the NLEX network, including the completion of other segments in the region. The government has emphasized the importance of modernizing the country’s transportation system to support economic growth and urban mobility. The free toll period is a temporary measure to promote usage and assess the segment’s impact on traffic flow.
