A Philippine animal welfare group has offered a P20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of an individual accused of animal abuse. The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) Asia announced the reward in response to ongoing reports of animal mistreatment in the country.
The reward is part of a broader campaign by Peta Asia to combat illegal animal cruelty and promote ethical treatment of animals. The group has documented several cases of animal abuse, including the use of animals in illegal entertainment and the sale of animals in unregulated markets.
This initiative follows a series of incidents where animals were reportedly harmed or neglected, prompting public outcry and calls for stricter enforcement of animal protection laws. Peta Asia has previously filed complaints with local authorities and urged the government to increase penalties for animal cruelty. The reward is intended to encourage the public to come forward with evidence against offenders.
