City officials in Lapu-Lapu have announced a temporary four-day workweek starting next week, aiming to alleviate fuel and electricity shortages. The measure applies to 30 selected government offices. The decision follows recent disruptions in supply chains and rising energy costs.
The temporary adjustment will begin on Monday and last for four days, with employees returning to their usual schedule on Friday. The move is part of broader efforts to manage resource allocation during a period of heightened demand. Officials emphasized that the change is temporary and will be reviewed based on ongoing conditions.
Lapu-Lapu has faced periodic shortages due to regional infrastructure challenges and increased consumption during peak seasons. The city government has been working with local utilities to stabilize supply, but the four-day workweek is seen as a short-term solution to reduce pressure on essential services. The measure is expected to ease strain on public transportation and electricity grids during the coming weeks.
