Local authorities in San Fernando, southern Cebu, collected about 150 kilograms of solid waste from the coastline during the International Coastal Cleanup. The event, organized by the Ocean Conservancy, saw volunteers from the community and environmental groups working together to clean the area.

The cleanup took place on a Saturday, with participants gathering at the beachfront to remove plastic bottles, fishing nets, and other debris. The collected waste was then transported to a nearby waste processing facility for proper disposal.

This annual event, held globally, aims to raise awareness about marine pollution and encourage local action. The Cebu cleanup was part of a larger initiative to monitor and reduce plastic waste in coastal areas. Environmental advocates note that the effort reflects growing community engagement in protecting local ecosystems.
