Four relatives were buried alive in a landslide in Cebu City on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred in Sitio Riverside, Barangay Pulangbato, when a sudden earth movement collapsed part of a hillside. The victims were having lunch at their home when the landslide struck around noon. Rescuers arrived quickly but found the survivors already buried under debris.
Emergency teams worked through the afternoon to locate and extract the trapped individuals. Initial reports indicated the victims were fully entombed in the rubble. No immediate survivors were reported. The area is known for its hilly terrain, which has seen similar incidents in the past.
The landslide is believed to have been triggered by heavy rainfall in the region. Local authorities have warned residents to remain cautious during periods of high precipitation. The incident has raised concerns about the safety of homes built on unstable slopes. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the damage and to assess the risk of further landslides in the area.
