Philippines and Vietnam have agreed to collaborate on a typhoon mitigation project aimed at improving disaster preparedness and response. The agreement was reached during a meeting between senior defense officials from both nations.
The initiative, referred to as "Project Typhoon Mitigation," is designed to enhance early warning systems and infrastructure resilience against typhoons, which are a frequent threat to both countries. Officials from the Philippine Department of National Defense and the Vietnamese Ministry of Defense participated in the discussions.
This collaboration follows a series of joint military exercises and disaster response drills between the two nations in recent years. Both countries have experienced significant damage from typhoons, highlighting the need for improved coordination and resource sharing. The project is expected to include the development of shared data platforms and joint training programs for emergency personnel.
