Thomas Markle Sr. Father of British actress Meghan Markle, is under investigation in the Philippines over allegations involving child sexual abuse materials. Philippine Interior Minister Jonvic Remulla confirmed that police are analyzing a laptop discovered at the former residence of Markle in Cebu, a resort city in the Philippines. The laptop was found alongside images of child abuse, according to reports.
The investigation, which is ongoing, is expected to yield full results within a week. Remulla stated that the Philippines plans to take “appropriate legal action” against Markle. Markle, who had been living in Cebu until recently, reportedly returned to the United States earlier this year.
The Philippine authorities have not yet confirmed whether Markle has been formally charged. However, the interior minister described him as a “possible sex offender of the grossest kind.” Markle has denied the allegations, stating he has not possessed child sex abuse images.
The case has drawn attention due to Markle’s connection to the British royal family. His daughter, Meghan Markle, is married to Prince Harry. The investigation highlights the Philippines’ efforts to address child sexual abuse and the legal consequences of such allegations.
