The Commission on Audit (COA) has identified discrepancies in the distribution of P30.714 million in cash aid provided by the Liloan Municipal Government to affected households. The audit found that the local government could not fully verify the use of the funds.

The COA report indicates that while the municipal government distributed the aid, it failed to provide sufficient documentation to confirm that all funds were properly allocated. This has raised concerns about transparency and accountability in disaster relief operations. The audit was conducted following a typhoon that impacted the region earlier this year.

This is not the first time local governments have faced scrutiny over aid distribution. Previous audits have highlighted similar issues in other municipalities, prompting calls for stricter oversight. The COA has urged local authorities to improve financial reporting and ensure that disaster relief funds reach those in need. The findings may lead to further investigations or policy changes to enhance transparency in future relief efforts.
