The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has announced it will keep prices of 190 basic necessities and prime commodities stable until December 31, 2026. The decision aims to protect consumers during the holiday season.
The DTI confirmed that monitored goods will remain at current prices, with sufficient supply to meet national demand. This includes food, household items, and other essential products. The freeze applies to all listed items, preventing any price hikes during the period.
This measure comes as Filipinos prepare for Undas, Christmas, and New Year. The DTI emphasized that supply chains are secure and that there will be no shortages. The policy is part of ongoing efforts to stabilize the market and support household budgets. The freeze is set to expire at the end of the year, with no immediate plans for extension.
