President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Announced new employment programs during the 26th National Public Employment Service Office Congress in Cebu. The initiatives include Trabahong-Dagat, SkillPass, and Sagip-Trabaho, designed to improve job access and skills development for Filipinos.
The programs aim to address unemployment by providing targeted training and job placement services. Trabahong-Dagat focuses on maritime and coastal employment opportunities. SkillPass offers vocational training to enhance workforce capabilities. Sagip-Trabaho targets job seekers through direct employment support.
The government has long struggled with high unemployment rates, particularly among youth and rural populations. Recent economic challenges have intensified the need for sustainable employment solutions. Marcos emphasized the importance of aligning workforce skills with market demands to ensure long-term economic stability.
The new programs follow previous efforts to improve labor market conditions. The Department of Labor and Employment has been working to expand job opportunities and reduce unemployment through various initiatives. These latest measures reflect a continued commitment to addressing labor market challenges in the Philippines.
